Eugenius - The Musical

There’s a hero inside us all!

Written by Chris Wilkins & Ben Adams, who together, are mighty!

Much like Superman’s fortress of solitude, or Batmans Bat Cave, in the heart of Battersea at the Turbine Theatre, a thrilling, high-energy 80s-inspired British musical with a superhero-sized heart and an uplifting score has its base – but this definitely shouldn’t be kept a secret!

It’s back, and wow! it’s visually incredible. From entering the theatre you can see references to the shows content and the comic book theme in such a vibrant way. (Be sure to grab a selfie with the photo frame before entering!)

With classic comic book panelling, art (Nick Ashton) and set design (Andrew Exeter) its (Eu)genius is apparent before the shows even begun & the theming is strong throughout the show.

The performances from this impeccably assembled cast who throw their hearts into the show & you can tell, will leave you needing to come back again and again to catch new details and to hear their stunning vocals. Your eyes are glued to the stage to catch every detail.

This is truly a show where geeks rule, dreams do come true, and everyone finds the superhero inside themselves.

Eugenius! is a hilarious love letter to the iconic movies, comic books and nostalgia of the 80’s. A champion of the underdog, a place where ANYONE can become the hero.

So why not join the growing legion of Eugenie’s and you’ll find that : together we are mighty!

Go Eugenius

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Super, Cracking, Fun!

4.5/5 Stars

Spoiler Free Review For – Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Fury of the Gods delivered exactly what the title proposes. As Helen Mirren and Lucy Lui flaunt their legendary villainess attitude as the Daughters of Atlas, Zachary Levi once again portrays a humorous yet heartfelt performance as Billy Batson. However, the seasoned actors were not the only ones using all of their superpowers.

The on screen chemistry between Jack Dylan Grazer (returning to his role as Freddy) and Rachel Zegler’s character Anthea, the third daughter of Atlas, provided a sophisticated yet sweet Romeo and Juliet B story alongside the action.

The incredible ensemble cast brought to life David F Sandberg’s vision of what a true feel good comic book inspired film should be. Sandberg’s obvious origins in the horror genre created a frightening opening scene reflecting the atmosphere of the first Shazam. The creatures born from Calypso’s magic and the demons inside the heads of the production team truly put the fear of God into the audience during the climax of the film.

However, this was eased by the perfectly timed comedy dripped through the dialogue thanks to the witty writing team of Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. The punchy one liners poking fun at Warner Bros own inside jokes hit more effectively than the screaming goats in Thor: Love and Thunder and if that wasn’t enough the cameos from other familiar DC faces (as well as Sandberg’s favourite horror doll) cemented it’s place as a solid film in the universe.

With an increased budget for the second instalment of Shazam, the CGI gave life to the magic, the fantasy and an epic dragon that forced me to suspend my disbelief and for a moment believe that wizardry could be real without being awkward. This matched the creative cinematography which captivated the most significant moments for the characters.

It’s worth staying for both end credit scenes that simultaneously answer questions left over from the first instalment and leave many more open for a potential second sequel. To conclude, Shazam: Fury of the Gods is a feel good, action packed, classic comic book inspired film we have all grown to love and appreciate since the early days of Marvel, while maintaining it’s DC identity. It seems that DC/Warner Bros have finally discovered a spectacular algorithm for the superhero genre.
